Wolf Lane House - Ground floor

Redefining the Ground Floor for Contemporary Life
This project reimagined the ground floor of a semi-detached home, turning a dated and awkward layout into a light-filled, flowing space full of character and purpose.

Challenges and Aspirations
On entering the house, visitors were met with a closed cloakroom door, and another turn was needed to reach the main living area. Inside, a lone column created dead space, the semi-enclosed kitchen felt disconnected, and the lounge, with its dated fireplace, lacked warmth. The layout clearly needed a rethink to improve flow, light, and daily life.

Our Creative Solutions Unfold
We began by moving the cloakroom into the garage, creating a bright new utility area, both accessed through a soft arch near the entrance, cleverly screened by a bespoke unit that doubles as hallway storage and kitchen cabinetry.
At the heart of the floor, new windows were added to allow more light to flow in especially in the kitchen and stairs area. The kitchen was relocated to create a lively, social hub, defined by a half-height glazed wall and featuring on the other side a cosy seating nook with hidden storage. The dining area flows effortlessly onto the garden, while the former kitchen is now a snug retreat, calm yet connected.
The lounge was transformed with bespoke joinery and a new wood-burning stove, and throughout the floor, gentle curves and arches guide movement, connecting each space while creating a rhythm and sense of harmony.

The Transformed Home
The ground floor now flows effortlessly from one space to the next, each area connected yet distinct. Curves, light, and careful detailing guide movement and daily life, turning a once awkward layout into a graceful, modern haven—comfortable, inviting, and perfectly balanced.
